Hope Qi (she/her/hers) graduated from Columbia School of Social Work with a Master of Science in Social Work and completed the Dialectical Behavior Therapy Training Program. Hope has additional training in motivational interviewing, prolonged exposure therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy for advanced suicide risk assessments.
Hope previously worked in a public school where she utilized evidence-based clinical practice to address school and family-related stresses. In addition, she has worked in an adult outpatient psychiatry department of a hospital where she conducted DBT individual therapy and DBT skills training to treat patients who suffer from borderline personality disorder and other co-occurring mental health disorders. Hope was also the program manager at a local intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment center for adolescents and young adults, where she provided DBT individual treatment and DBT skills training to help clients achieve their life-worth-living goals.
Having the experience of growing up and studying in both China and the United States, Hope developed a unique understanding in how cultural differences and family of origin issues impact clients’ growth. She is able to provide treatment in both English and Mandarin. She is currently independently licensed in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columba.
Hope is certified as a DBT clinician by the esteemed DBT-Linehan Board of Certification.
